Innovation is deeply embedded in VES USA DNA. Recognizing the evolving needs and stringent quality standards of the HVAC industry especially following the recent SEER 2023 regulations our team has developed turnkey solutions to address these emerging complexities. Our automated coil leak testing lines with integrated helium sniffer repair stations exemplify our dedication to boosting efficiency, reducing production cycles, and optimizing operational space for HVAC manufacturers.
VES USA, leveraging its robust engineering capabilities and vast industry experience, recently implemented a groundbreaking project: delivering two fully automated coil leak testing assembly lines for large-scale HVAC coil manufacturing. This turnkey project significantly outpaces traditional manual leak testing methods, elevating quality assurance to new standards.
Each turnkey automated line includes:
Two independent Vacuum-Helium Leak Testing Machines per Line
Leak Rate: Tested at 0.1 oz/year using refrigerant R410a standards
Burst Pressure (High): 420-650 Psi
Testing Pressure: 200-220 Psi
Loading Method: Conveyor-based automatic loading/unloading
Cycle Time: 71 seconds per machine, 35.5 seconds per dual-machine system
Internal Coil Volume: Optimized for coils up to 3 liters
Vacuum Pump System: Leybold WS2001 (1 unit), Leybold SV300B (3 units)
Leak Detector: INFICON LDS 3000 mass spectrometer
Integrated Sniffer Repair Stations
A dedicated station enables precise pinpointing and repair of detected leaks with multiple testing stages, including:
Low-pressure air loading
High-pressure air loading
Low-pressure helium tracer loading
High-pressure helium tracer loading
The integrated HMI (Human-Machine Interface) efficiently extracts data directly from barcodes, detailing the leak severity, location, and repair history, enabling clear decision-making for operators.
VES USA, in collaboration with ALPHR automation, engineered a sophisticated assembly line featuring a total of 10 stations, including automated leak detection, robotic handling, and integrated sniffer repair capabilities.
Notably, the line features a mezzanine-level repair station (Station 9) beneath the main production line. This innovative layout ensures a continuous workflow: coils automatically move through the testing stations, and if a leak is detected, the coil smoothly transitions to the repair station below, undergoes swift repairs, and is promptly retested, thus achieving the targeted 35.5-second production rate per coil.
Superior Cycle Time: Drastically reduces testing and repair cycles, boosting overall production efficiency.
Precision & Consistency: Automated leak detection guarantees accuracy, eliminating variability caused by manual testing methods.
Helium Recovery Integration: Shared helium recovery systems optimize gas consumption, significantly reducing operational costs.
Optimized Floor Space: Compact footprint delivers robust capabilities within minimal facility area, freeing valuable production floor space.
Enhanced Safety & Ergonomics: Reduced manual handling significantly improves operator safety and reduces ergonomic hazards.
VES USA automated coil leak testing solutions represent a pivotal advancement in HVAC production processes. Integrating vacuum-helium leak detection and sniffer repair automation in a compact, scalable format ensures rigorous compliance, increased throughput, and superior efficiency for today’s demanding HVAC industry.
