OptVol is a turnkey, compact helium leak detection system custom engineered to meet your exact production needs. Delivering unmatched sensitivity down to 5 × 10⁻⁶ mbar·L/s, OptVol combines rapid cycle times and cost savings in one all-in-one package.
It is fast, versatile, cost-effective, and can be used to test a wide range of products with a simple tool change.
OptVol is 9% faster and offers operational cost savings of up to 65% compared to traditional vacuum chamber helium leak detection systems.
In 2020, VES Global approached global industry leaders to assess the challenges they would face over the next 5 years.
With our entire VES team, we analyzed the results and applied our combined 300+ years of experience in helium leak detection testing to design the OptVol technology and optimize our clients’ results.
The product is placed on a fixture within the chamber, and the operator starts the cycle. The door can be manual or automatic.
The system performs a preliminary leak test with air/vacuum to check if the product has a major leak.
The product is pressurized with pure helium inside the leak test chamber.
If a leak exists, the helium will escape from the product and enter the test chamber.
The mass spectrometer detects helium in the test chamber and quantifies the leak rate.
The system monitors the leak rate, and if it exceeds the limit, the test ends, and the operator must confirm the rejection. If the leak rate is below the limit, the test ends, and the operator can remove the product.
OptVol technology has 35% fewer components than traditional systems, resulting in lower service costs.
OptVol reduces cycle time by up to 10%, thanks to optimized volume in the test chamber.
The OptVol design reduces the space used on the leak test floor by 74%.
OptVol optimizes space and reduces air, electricity, and factory consumption by up to 91%.
Compared to traditional leak detection systems, OptVol emits less CO2 during leak testing.
OptVol drastically reduces the amount of helium (up to 45%) required to perform the leak test.
The traditional helium leak detection machine has been in production for several years, producing 1 piece per chamber every 28.3 seconds
Three OptVol machines were compared to the traditional helium leak detection system. It required 3 traditional systems to match the performance of the OptVol technology.
